Bosso date CAPS Utd

AFTER enduring a two-game win-less run in the Premiership, Highlanders face another daunting task when they tackle CAPS United in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Barbourfields on Sunday. The rejuvenated Bulawayo giants, third on the log with 21 points, are eight points shy of leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars.

They failed to find a way past struggling ZPC Kariba in a match they lost 1-2 at home last week before they once again staggered in their violence-marred goalless draw against Yadah Stars at the National Sports Stadium last weekend.

Highlanders utility player, Peter Muduwa, has challenged his teammates to up their act against the Green Machine. Muduwa, who is the only outfield player at Bosso to have faced CAPS United in the past two years, says they have to bounce back to winning ways.

“We have not played well in the past two matches,’’ said Muduwa.

“We are much better than the team that lost 1-2 to ZPC Kariba and not as bad as the side which shared the spoils against Yadah last weekend.

“Highlanders is a big institution and it is very nice to see this team playing a good brand of football as we have done in the first nine matches of the marathon.

“We have failed, dismally, to replicate the same form in our last two matches. It is very disappointing and quiet worrisome.

“We should shoulder the blame. Of course, we have some injuries here and there but we should take the blame whenever we fail to impress as our fans expect us to repay their faith in us.’

He expects a tricky assignment against the Green Machine.

“The next match against CAPS United will obviously be a big one. We have to accept that the match will be tricky but there is no room for us to continue losing points. “CAPS United is a big team and they can beat anyone on any day but then we are Highlanders, a team with their own targets for the season.

“We cannot lose two consecutive matches at our own fortress where our fans will be cheering us,” said Muduwa.

Makepekepe sit seventh on the log standings after amassing 16 points in 11 games and they will be eager to start picking points in Sunday’s clash after managing just a single point from their three previous matches.
