Gospel music outfit ‘Glorious Melodies Choir’ has vowed to improve local music with the launch of their second album titled ‘Rimbazwi Afro Centric Music’.
With a fusion of marimba and choral music, The Glorious Melodies Choir launched its 12 track second album that can be viewed as a new genre in the country.
The group’s spokesperson Bonny Kanyenze said they are inspired by the music of Mbuya Stella Chiweshe to come up with music that fuses choral and marimba.
Guests that graced the event applauded the efforts by the group to enhance music and participate in the shaping of music in the country and its contribution towards culture and heritage.
The new album ‘Rimbazwi Afro Centric Music’ features songs like ‘Mugarandega’, ‘Nhemamusasa’, ‘Vanotambarara’, ‘Nyika’ and ‘MaKristu Tasangana’ which are categorised into traditional African contemporary, public awareness songs and African gospel.
The gospel outfit which constitutes more than 60 choir members launched their first album last year.
