Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed governments commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights of all citizens.
Speaking to ZBC News after his briefing with Secretary for Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Mrs Virginia Mabhiza and her team ahead of the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting, Vice President Mnangagwa reiterated government’s commitment in the promotion and protection of human rights.
He said as government they were happy with the human rights situation in Zimbabwe and they were promoting and supporting all human rights installments.
Asked to clarify government’s position on the disappearance of Itai Dzamara, Cde Mnangagwa said government is cooperating and it has appealed to organisations and individuals with information to come forward.
The Zimbabwean government represented by Vice President Mnangagwa is attending the human rights periodic review meeting in Geneva, Switzerland where the country is expected to adopt recommendations on human rights that were carried out after its presentation on the country’s human rights situation in November last year.
