The ruling Zanu PF party has procured a fleet of 365 vehicles and conventional buses to be used for party business.
45 samples of the vehicles delivered by the supplier under phase one were presented to President Robert Mugabe at the party headquarters in Harare this Wednesday by the party’s Secretary for Transport, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.
The development comes as the revolutionary party gears up for the 2018 elections.
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said her department together with the Department of Finance have been working tirelessly to replace the fleet that was bought in 2008.
“The vehicles will be installed with car tracking devices and the party is in the process of opening a garage that will service the vehicles,” said Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri.
Provincial chairpersons and various leaders in the Zanu PF structures including the Women’s League will get the vehicles to be used for the smooth running of party business.
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri noted that the rest of the vehicles will be delivered by March next year.
Secretary for Finance in the Zanu PF Politburo, Dr Obert Mpofu donated 20 000 litres of diesel to the party which is hosting its annual conference in Masvingo this week.
