Binga Rural District Council (RDC) has embarked on a road rehabilitation programme following the disbursement of US$154 000 from ZINARA.

The road rehabilitation programme is being undertaken in four different parts of the district with most of the work already 30 percent done, while the fifth project at the district centre is already 45 percent complete.

The programme is also covering the rehabilitation of bridges around the district.

According to Binga RDC chief executive officer Mr Joshua Muzamba, the programme commenced three weeks ago and the target is to complete it at the end of this month.

“We are doing a bridge in Chuzya to the north of the district. We are also doing a road in Kamombo which is in Lubimbi. We are also doing a bridge and gravelling in Senga. That is the road that links up the Binga Tinde Lubimbi road,” he said.

The rehabilitation programme is being done to resuscitate the roads and bridges that were damaged by incessant rains that were experienced in the country between January and February this year.
