DEFEATED MDC-T MP Nelson Chamisa has gone into a shell days after he was clobbered in the battle for the secretary general’s position last weekend
Chamisa lost the key post after he garnered 1 762 votes against Douglas Mwonzora’s 2 464.
They said he has also not visited the party’s Harvest House headquarters where he was expected to hand over responsibilities to new office bearers.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday night, Mwonzora said Chamisa has been ignoring his calls since the announcement of the congress results on Sunday morning.
“He has never called me as he used to do before the elections, neither has he congratulated me,” Mwonzora told reporters at Ambassador Hotel’s Quill Club.
“I do not know the reason why my colleague has decided to ignore me. We are good friends and there is no bad blood between him and me.”
Mwonzora said Chamisa has also avoided visiting Harvest House where he was supposed to hand over the office of organising secretary to Abedinico Bhebhe.
“The former acting secretary general Honorable Tapiwa Mashakada on Monday handed over his office to the new secretary general Douglas Mwonzora,” he said.
Chamisa was sworn in as a practising lawyer at the High Court on Wednesday. He said he saw more opportunities in the legal field ahead of him.
