Chapungu form worries Dhlakama

CHAPUNGU gaffer Rodwell Dhlakama is worried about his side’s form of late despite the Gweru-based Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side having gone for five matches without defeat.

In their last five matches, Chapungu managed two wins while drawing on three occasions.

They are just two points above the relegation zone, having played out draws against their rivals Dynamos and Nichrut, who are both fighting to stay afloat.

For the last two seasons, Chapungu have found themselves embroiled in relegation battles, but Dhlakma was hoping to steer his club away from the scrap this time on.

The two draws in the last two matches left the former Caps United coach disappointed.

Chapungu have the same number of points as Dynamos and are two better than Nichrut.

“We have drawn twice now, instead of getting six points, we have obtained two points. I am not happy at all with this performance,” Dhlakama said. “Some of the players have not been showing aggression and determination. We are still fighting relegation, and we are just a two points above the relegation zone. We (want to) ensure that we don’t find ourselves in a compromised position when the season ends. Nobody wants to be in that position, but sometimes it is inevitable so right now, we have to keep our heads above the water and make sure we get as many points as we can,” Dlakama said.

They will be looking to reach the 40-point mark to give themselves a good chance of staying up and with seven matches left in the league, they will be hoping for more wins.

However, their next five fixtures are unforgiving as they face Chicken Inn, Shabanie Mine, Ngezi Platinum, Highlanders and ZPC Kariba.
