Zimbabwe Cricket head of cricket affairs Givemore Makoni says a technical team will be in place by the time Zimbabwe hosts a triangular series involving Pakistan and Australia in June.
The ZC head of cricket affairs also announced the resumption of the Logan Cup tournament, the Pro50 championship, preparations for the triangular series involving Pakistan and Australia, the Women’s Africa Cup and plans for the next academy session at a press conference in the capital.
ZC sacked national team coach Heath Streak and his entire technical team of batting coach Lance Klusener, fielding coach Walter Chawaguta, bowling coach after failing to secure a berth at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales during the just ended World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
Makoni said plans are afoot to ensure a technical team will be in place before June when Zimbabwe hosts the tri-series with Australia and Pakistan.
The Lady Chevrons will also host an international t20 tournament from April 28 until May 04 involving Uganda, Tanzania and Namibia as part of efforts to give them game time and much needed experience and exposure.
The academy project will play at home in May and then England as part of efforts to groom the youngsters for the future.
The ZC head of cricket affairs also announced the resumption of the domestic cricket which had been suspended last year to pave the way for the ICC World Cup qualifiers which Zimbabwe hosted last month.
It remains to be seen whether Zimbabwe cricket will rise again with the resumption of domestic cricket on the 17th of this month following a disappointing outing during the ICC World Cup qualifiers in which the Chevrons failed to qualify by a small margin of just three runs against Papua New Guinea.
