Cynthia Mare goes a step higher

In a milestone achievement for the music sector, talented Afro-fusion diva Cynthia Mare, will have her album launch beamed live on ZTV as well as on ZBC radio stations as a way of keeping her nationwide fans updated on the proceedings at the event.

The “Zuva Rimwe” hit-maker will be launching her third album “Shinga” tonight at the gigantic 7 Arts Theatre in Harare where Victor Kunonga, Sabastian Magacha, BaShupi, Hope Masike, Donald Kanyuchi, Tytan and Xndr will be the supporting acts.

Cynthia’s manager, Njabulo Nkomo also known as Tytan, said the idea of having a live broadcast was common in various countries but rare in Zimbabwe.

“It is something that has been done all over the world and by having a live broadcast of the event, we are just trying to grow an appreciation of the artiste by her followers. We are not re-inventing the wheel but we are just using it in better ways,” he said.

The album — that carries 13 tracks — promises to be Cynthia’s best album since the release of her debut offering “Summer Love” in 2011 that was done while she was still based in the United Kingdom.

“Then, she was playing R&B before she decided to shift to Afro-fusion when she came back to Zimbabwe and followed this up with her second offering titled ‘Songs My Mother Loved’ in 2013, which carried the popular track ‘Zuva Rimwe Rimwe’. This launch is not going to be the launch of not only her music but also her brand and the brands that have helped her to be where she is today,” said Tytan.

Some of the partners who are supporting Cynthia on the launch include Nicoz Diamond, G-Tel, Skhokho Management, Mr Elders’ Creations, Black Things Creations, Zim Clas, Nyaradzo Funeral Services and Jericho Advertising.

The award-winning singer is expected to sample the songs on the 13-track album, which also carries five bonus tracks. One of these songs is “Kwahi Hanzi” which talks about the assumptions that people normally have of others.

The title track, “Shinga” strengthens people as they go through the hardships in life.

Cynthia wrote this track after being robbed last year and in it she is urging people to rise above the trauma that they go through after such experiences. The performance by the diva — who is also a brand ambassador for G-Tel — will be illuminated by acts from her fellow artistes.
