Govt, UN launches EBAFOSA Zim Chapter

Government in collaboration with the United Nations has launched the Ecosystem Adaptation for Food Security Assembly (EBAFOSA).

The Zimbabwe Chapter will foster linkages, knowledge on implementing sustainable system on resource management and experience sharing in view of the global threat of climate change.

The launch of the EBAFOSA Zimbabwe Chapter will see the country joining 15 nations under this inclusive pan-African policy framework.

The implementation platform will see stakeholders convening to forge a mutual development policy and implement solutions towards achieving sustainable developmental goals.

Speaking at the launch, UN resident coordinator, Bishow Parajuli says UN acknowledges and support the launch of EBAFOSA in Zimbabwe as it presents the basis for proffering solutions to farmers, researchers, academics and government.

This will also promote ecosystem based adaptation in the face of global climatic change.

EBAFOSA will enable Zimbabwe to meet its sustainable developmental goals and agenda 2030 and the African Union  agenda 2063 says Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate Mr Prince Mupazvirivo who stood in for Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.

The Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Dr Joseph Made says the launch of EBAFOSA will compliment government efforts to advance environmental and agricultural priorities in the face of climatic changes.

The launch was conducted under the theme, “Shaping Zimbabwe’s Food Security and Climate Resilience Through EBAFOSA”.
