The District Development Fund (DDF in Mashonaland Central Province is targeting 2400 kilometres of roads rehabilitation and is calling for the participation of local people in the exercise.

It was a day to remember for Chesa farmers in Mt Darwin who witnessed the rehabilitation of Matope-Nyajenje road which was last attended to soon after independence in 1980.

Farmers Mawire, Chanakira and Gwinhi described the development as a major one as they will now be able to transport the agricultural produce to the market.

DDF area road manager Mr Eric Mugogo said they will soon complete rehabilitation in the Chesa area before embarking in other areas in the province while DDF acting provincial co-ordinator Mr Elias Chigogo said they are  targeting to work on 2400 kilometres of road in Mashonaland Central adding that they have covered 600 kilometres so far.

Chesa farmers are working with the DDF in rehabilitating the roads as some trees along the road sides had grown over the years making it impossible for the grader to uproot them
