MUSICIAN-cum-comedian Madlela Skhobokhobo said he was mooting dumping acting to engage in full-time music work as the film industry was not paying him enough to live on.

The SaMaMoe hitmaker took to Twitter recently, saying he needed motivation to go back to film.
In an interview with Southern Eye Life & Style, Madlela said music was now taking much of his time.
“I have Madlela series with me. I have done about five episodes. The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation only played Season 1, but I have engaged them and they are not able to accommodate us now due to some financial issues. We have tried Zambezi Magic and we’re not getting any luck,” he said.
“That’s mostly the frustration, but we are not giving up on the film side. Soon something will give in.”
Madlela admitted that music had taken over from film, as it was paying his bills.
“Music has taken over because it currently pays my bills,” he said.
Madlela, however, said he would still soldier on and not give up on the film industry.
“Hopefully, we will get a broadcaster interested in one of our projects. I have done a pilot project for another series Umbango, but it has not yet found a platform. So that is why I am saying for now, music has taken over, but it won’t be long. I still stand by what I promised my fans. Something is brewing here, but I am tired of doing projects for piracy,” he said.
Madlela bemoaned challenges from the broadcasters, saying there was only one platform from where he could be heard and seen.
“We have ZBC as the only platform. I pray to the government to open up the media space so that we have other channels to take our works to. We are now exploring online platforms,” he said.
