Marondera on drive to revive football

The ZIFA Marondera Area Zone says it has come up with a programme to develop talent at grassroots level and revive football in the town which currently does not have any team in the top flight league.

Despite having one of the best stadia in the country, Rudhaka Stadium, Marondera is one of the towns without a team in division one or premier soccer league and that has worried the ZIFA Marondera Area Zone that believes it’s time to revive the game.

Marondera Area Zone chairperson George Zijena told the ZBC News at the Kundibheka Trophy sponsored by Marondera businessman Cleopas Kundiona that although the town has the capacity it does not have a team to show the vast talent.

Mr Kundiona who is also patron of the area zone said he has decided to partner the area zone to develop talent in Marondera.

The tournament was won by Cosco FC who beat All Stars 2-1 while Norich beat Sprinters for 3rd place.

16 teams took part in the tournament which featured teams from Area Zone A and B
