Rising Afro-fusion musician Mbeu is becoming one of the busiest youngsters in local showbiz.

He has been staging shows in various parts of the country every week and tomorrow he returns to Harare for a concert at Bar Rouge.

He has performed at the venue several times before and has always exhibited his artistry with the guitar.

The last time he performed at Bar Rouge he shared the stage with Selmor Mtukudzi and they set the stage alight.

Mbeu’s manager, Eugene Museredza, said there is a sign of growth and the show is a response to calls from their fans to return to Bar Rouge.

“Our fans have been constantly calling for more shows and this is Mbeu and The Mhodzi Tribe’s response to the call,” he said.

Museredza said they are working on something that will show how their brand has been growing over the years.

“We will play some of our new songs that will be part of our upcoming album scheduled for release mid-year. It’s going to be experimental and fun,” he said.

Mbeu was groomed at Pakare Paye Arts Centre and is one of the products of the late Oliver Mtukudzi’s junior policy.

At his recent shows, he has been playing songs to salute his mentor. He has done renditions of Mtukudzi’s popular songs and fans have enjoyed the act.

In a recent interview, Museredza said they feel incomplete without Mtukudzi’s guidance.

“It feels like we are cattle without a herdboy. We have lost our compass, someone who would tell us how to navigate the terrain and rebuke us whenever we were lost,” said Museredza. Bar Rouge manager Life Chakubamba said Mbeu has done well at his previous shows and they will keep working with him.

“He is a hard worker and we are pleased to bring him back to the venue. We want to continue working with him to bring good music to our patrons. We know Saturday will be a good day for us,” said Chakumamba.
