President Emmerson Mnangagwa will on Friday leave for the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation (Focac) scheduled for September 3-4 in Beijing.

Mnangagwa revealed this Wednesday while addressing journalists at his Munhumutapa Building offices where he was announcing the appointment of a commission of inquiry into the post-election violence beginning of this month which resulted in the loss of six lives.

“We have consulted all the seven of them (commissioners) and they have all agreed. Arrangements are being made for them to come to be resident in Zimbabwe during the process.

Themed “China and Africa Jointly Building a Community of Shared Future,” the annual forum of China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) focuses on communication and cooperation between China and Africa in the economy, security, governance, and the development and future of China-Africa relations.

The Summit will provide a platform that will deepen the two-decade long co-operation between the Asian giant and the African continent.

Recently, African countries have been pushing for a relationship that addresses the infrastructure deficit and lack of professional and skilled personnel on the continent.

Trade and investment facilitation, poverty reduction, public health, cultural and people to people exchanges, as well as peace and security programmes are some of the areas of interest.
