RED-HOT Terrence Dzukamanja scored a brace as Ngezi Platinum Stars maintained its 100 percent start to the season with a victory over How Mine in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Baobab yesterday.
The victory sent Ngezi Platinum Stars to the top of the log with a perfect nine points from three matches.
Tonderayi Ndiraya’s boys are yet to concede a goal, having beaten Black Rhinos 1-0 on match day one of 2017, before thumping Hwange 3-0 at the Colliery last weekend.
After a goalless first half, Madamburo upped the tempo in the second stanza and found the opener in the 65th minute when Dzukamanja beat How Mine ‘keeper Donovan Bernard with Liberty Chakoroma providing the assist.
Dzukamanja sealed How Mine’s fate a minute from full-time to send the home crowd into delirium.
“I thought it was a well-deserved win and my boys gave it their all,” Ngezi coach Ndiraya said. “The tempo was high throughout the match and if your players play at such a tempo then it always gives you hope.”
Ndiraya is enjoying himself in Mhondoro but the same cannot be said of How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu, who is yet to register a win in three matches.
How Mine began the campaign with a 0-1 loss away at ZPC Kariba before drawing 1-1 with Tsholotsho at Luveve.
“We usually create chances but today we didn’t, we also made a lot of mistakes and our opponents capitalised on that. We knew (Ngezi) would be strong at home; they have the support and they are a good team,” said Kaindu.
