Roads rehab in Hatcliffe

A roads rehabilitation programme has commenced in Harare’s Hatcliffe suburb after years of lack of infrastructure development.

Perennial water shortages and badly damaged roads continue to dog the suburb, with lack of ownership of the area by both the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, and council being cited as the major impediment to development.

Harare North legislator, Cde Tongesai Mudambo told the ZBC News that lack of ownership over who carries out which duties in the area has been hindering development leaving the legislator with the task of repairing the roads and also drilling boreholes in the community which has never had a steady supply of the precious commodity from the Harare City Council.

Development in Hatcliffe consortium is also in limbo after the area dominated by corporative was handed over to UDCORP by the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing to stop the arbitrary sale of state land by unscrupulous land barons.
