Spencer Kuzamba Dies

Spencer Kuzamba, a prominent member of Warren Hills, Police Club and Country Club golf clubs, has died.

Kuzamba (63), succumbed to lung cancer at Parirenyatwa Hospital on Saturday morning. He had undergone an operation four days earlier, according to his daughter Karren. He is survived by his wife Eunice and seven children – four daughters and three sons – and will be laid to rest at Zororo Memorial Park at 2pm today.

Mourners are gathered at No. 10 Kilkhampton Close in Mabelreign, Harare.

Apart from being a golfer, Kuzamba was an ardent fan of the Warriors and his favourite local side was Dynamos.

A former manager at TM Supermarket in Kamfinsa in Harare, Kuzamba was well known for taking part in corporates golf days which saw him playing at several courses in and around Harare.

A number of local golfers and soccer fans were yesterday shocked by Kuzamba’s untimely death with former Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Association spokesperson Evelyn Maisvoreva saying she had known him for years.

“I knew him at Warren Hills Golf Club where he was a member for a number of years and it is sad that he is no more.

Kuzamba’s brother-in-law, Obert Kanyimo, described him as a fine gentleman who always devoted his time to “his golf, wife and family”.

“Spencer just loved his golf and when you engage him on the subject about this sport he was very animated about it.

“He always carried his golf kit in his car and would go and play in a number of corporates events in and around Harare.

“But he also loved his football and was an ardent fan of both the Warriors and Dynamos. He was so passionate about football and it was also part of his daily life.

“Above all, Spencer was such a fine gentleman who was also devoted to his wife Eunice and family,” Kanyimo said.

The Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters Association, through their founding leader, Eddie “Mboma” Nyatanga, also sent their condolence message to the Kuzamba family.
