Pokello Nare is a Zimbabwe popular socialite, businesswoman and former Big Brother Africa (BBA) housemate. She owns the shoe haven Addicted 2 Shoes at Sam Levy’s Village in Harare.
Pokello was born to Retired Colonel George Nare and Bessy Nare. She was raised in Harare.
Pokello Nare, has roots in Matabeleland South’s Gwanda district. This was revealed by her father, Retired Colonel George Nare.
“We are of a royal descent, the Babirwa Clan in the lineage of Sikoba Morole, the chief of the Babirwas, who is now based in Botswana,” said Rtd Col Nare.
“We are Sotho by origin and we come from Manama area in rural Gwanda in Matabeleland South.”
She attended Alexandra Park Primary School for her primary education where she was heavily involved in sports like hockey and athletics. She then proceeded to Kyle College in Masvingo.
The thing about this fashionista and socialite is you really can’t miss her— she stands out with her flawless skin, impeccable sense of style and charismatic aura. I guess this is how you would feel in the presence of a queen.
For her tertiary education, Nare went to Monash University in South Africa where she acquired a double degree in Business Management and Media and Communications.
Her leadership qualities were seen here as she became one of the two females who made up a 10-member Student Representative Council called MUSASA (Monash University South Africa Student Association). She also made history by becoming the first woman to ever hold the social coordinator position on campus.
The entrepreneur in her spare time would tutor to earn some extra cash, money that she would invest in her wardrobe. “I don’t drink or smoke so I often had extra cash and I would use that money to buy shoes, I guess that is around the time I really fell in love with shoes,” added the Addicted 2 Shoes owner. During our talk, I gathered that the shoe fetish must have been planted earlier in her life when her mother bought her a pair of shoes from Dubai for her seventh grade leavers’ dance.
Her taste is influenced greatly by her extensive globetrotting from London, Paris, Hong Kong, USA, Nigeria, India, Dubai or Macau, not only does she have a innate sense of style but she imbibes fashion trends from all over the world.
Likened to one of the most googled personalities in the cyber sphere, Kim Kardashian, Nare was offered a reality show deal that she turned down because she was uneasy with the idea of the public getting too familiar with her personal life. She further explained, “What people do not know is that I am actually a reserved person and I do not always want to be accessible to people… there are some things that need to be private.”
Running a business, motherhood, endorsement deals and travel…how does she balance it all out? The Zimbabwean beauty’s answer was simple, “always make the time for the things you love.”
Pokello had a colourful stay at the BBA. She survived four times. The first time she received eight country votes and the following two times she had four country votes. She was however evicted in July 2013. It was at BBA that she found love. Pokello met Elikem, the Ghanaian representative and the two just hit it off. The two were clearly in love as they were constantly spotted bathing together and sharing the same bed. Above all, they often kissed on occasions.
People thought that their relationship was just a prank until now when they have defied all odds and are set to get married soon.
In May 2014, Pokello got engaged to her Ghananian boyfriend Elikem. The two got engaged on air while presenting the Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
