The University of Zimbabwe Faculty of Arts has embarked on a fund raising campaign to assist gifted underprivileged students.
The initiative comes at a time when some disadvantaged students are facing financial challenges in paying fees.
Some gifted students fail to make it in life due to lack of financial resources.
It is against this background that the UZ department of arts embarked on a fundraising campaign to help such students achieve their goals.
Dean for arts department Professor Itai Muwati says they value academic development adding disadvantaged students must be accorded an opportunity to explore their knowledge.
The campaign will be characterised by a sponsored walk this weekend among other activities.
The government has set aside funds to assist disadvantaged students at tertiary institutions.
However, the economic challenges has resulted in some students failing to access their academic results as well as failing to access their certificates.
Such projects are expected to augment government efforts in giving free education to underprivileged students.
