Youths encouraged to be honest

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially opened the Empower Bank at Celebration Centre in Harare today.

The Empower Bank is a deposit taking micro bank providing social solutions to the financially excluded with greater focus on youths.

Speaking to youths, captains of industry and bankers at the Celebration Centre, the President encouraged youths to be honest in their business transactions.

Serving as a stepping stone for a big chunk of youths which are unbanked in this country, the bank will enable them to start doing businesses.

President Mnangagwa further said that financial inclusion is a very important ingredient in realising the 2030 vision of middle income economy.

The bank was given a capital injection of US$12.5 million.

Earlier, the President did the ritual of cutting the ribbon and unveiling the pluck at Tendeseka Park in Harare where the bank will be operating from.

In September, a new branch of the bank will be opened in Bulawayo, however, the bank has been urged to open other branches in other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the private sector was implored to deposit their money in the bank to capacitate it and benefit more youths.
