The Zimbabwean First Lady stands accused of assaulting 20-year-old Gabriella Engels in Sandton earlier this month.
HARARE – Zanu-PF supporters have marched in Harare in a big show of support for Grace Mugabe.
The first lady stands accused of assaulting 20-year-old Gabriella Engels in Sandton earlier this month but supporters have hit out at the South African model.
Mugabe was granted diplomatic immunity by the South African government and was allowed to leave the country.
“Engels is no angel” – These words were on a placard held by Zanu-PF supporters while another one read “down with AfriForum”.
This march was called by G40, the faction of Zanu-PF which is loyal to the first lady.
Mandi Chimene has been a vocal supporter of Mugabe and she is one of those who addressed crowds in Harare on Wednesday.
Marches are a key tactic of President Robert Mugabe’s party faithful.
Few will have forgotten the million-man march held in May last year, held in response to an unexpectedly well-attended rally organised by the Movement for Democratic Change.
