ZIMBABWE – The 55-year-old hunter, Ian Gibson, was trying to poach for elephant tusks. The baby elephant he was trying to kill crush him, the elephant also died as he had already been shot.
The Pro-Hunter, Gibson was hunting with “Dallas Safari Club” who are also paying for his funeral, but it’s hardly much consolation for the poor baby elephant he killed.
He was crushed to death by a baby elephant when he tried to measure its ivory tusks for an American client. He was tentatively approaching the young bull elephant in Zimbabwe’s Zambezi Valley when the animal charged, and knelt on Gibson until he died.
Tens of thousands of elephants have been killed in Africa in recent years as demand for ivory in Asia.
