Ryan Burl, a 22-year-old emerging star from Zimbabwe, has signed as Littleborough Cricket Club professional.
Educated at the famous Peterhouse School, Burl has represented Zimbabwe junior sides in hockey, squash and athletics and representied Zimbabwe in two under 19 cricket world cups. In the last week he has made his full International debut.
A hard-hitting left handed batsman and genuine leg spin bowler, Burl has long been considered the next big thing in Zimbabwean cricket. Injuries have hampered his progress in recent years – he has undergone reconstructive surgery on his knee and shoulder. Now fully fit, he came back to light up Zimbabwean Cricket as the leading run scorer in the recent A-series versus Afghanistan. Scores of 12, 55, 70, 24 and 105 have now seen him selected in the Zimbabwean squad for their recent ODI tour of Afghanistan.
A Littleborough Cricket Club spokesperson said: “Given his enthusiasm and infectious love for the game, Littleborough are more than delighted to land their new signing. He is sure to be an integral member and a huge influence on such a young and developing group of players.”
