This country has become a perfect graveyard of buried hopes. The real tragedy is not going for a day without a meal, the real tragedy is the poverty of our aspirations and the death of hope. It is easy for those who are eating on behalf of us to romanticize poverty, to see poor people as inherently lacking agency and will. It is easy and ruthless to strip us of human dignity, to reduce us to objects of pity. Everyday we encounter suicides of young men and women who have given in to problems that are not of their own making, millions are jobless, our children are out of school and our babies die everyday from drinking dirty water.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired…Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe. We must confront those who rob us of hope and demand our dignity back.
We might differ in terms of political subscriptions but here I agree. The worst thing we have witnessed is the death of hope and the burial of ambition amongst young people in Zimbabwe
Enough is enough!!
