#Zimbabwe Opposition MDC Wants UN to Probe Activist Dzamara Disappearance

Zimbabwe’s opposition Movement For Democratic Change lawmakers moved a motion in Parliament calling on the United Nations to send a representative to investigate the disappearance of pro-democracy activist Itai Dzamara.
“We are seeking a special probe into the case of Dzamara from UN through its Special Rapporteur on Disappeared Persons,” Nelson Chamisa, a senior member of the MDC national executive council said. “We no longer have confidence in the local police to investigate the matter as it seven days since he was kidnapped.”
Dzamara, an activist in Zimbabwe’s anti-government Occupy Africa Unity Square movement, was reportedly abducted on March 9 outside a barbershop in the capital, Harare.
On March 13, a Zimbabwean judge ordered state security agents and police to find Dzamara.
