Zimbabwe Veteran Musician and Liberation War Hero Comrade Chinx has died.
We have just learnt of the sad passing of Dickson Chingaira Makoni popularly known in the music circles as Cde Chinx.
Cde Chinx is one of the most decorated musicians to come out of Zimbabwe.
He is considered to be one of the greatest musicians to come out of Zimbabwe. He is known for his revolutionary music which include songs such as “Africa”, “Hondo Yeminda” and “Mabhunu”.
He was born in Rusape on September 27, 1955 and passed away on the 17th of June 2017.
Causes of his death are unclear at this stage but close family and friends suggest he had been sick the past couple of months and was residing in Chitungwiza at the time of his death.
Pictured here with Bob Marley, both men fought our struggles through music.
Chinx was head of the choir for Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army (ZANLA) during the liberation war against imperialism. Chinx and the choir provided morale to the fighters.
We say Rest in Peace Cde.
