Zimbabweans Fleeing Violence in South Africa Return Home

(Bloomberg) — Hundreds of Zimbabwean immigrants fleeing xenophobic attacks in South Africa arrived back in their home country after the government sent buses to help repatriate them.
Six vehicles carrying Zimbabwean nationals arrived from South Africa on Monday, Madzudzo Pawadyira, director of the Civil Protection Unit, said by phone from Beitbridge border town between the two countries. The unit is assisting people with new identification documents, food hampers, soap and 10-kilogram bags of corn meal, he said.
At least seven people have died during attacks on foreigners and looting of their shops in townships around Durban and Johannesburg this month.
