ZNA farm voted best maize grower in Marondera

The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has been commended for leading by example in the command agriculture programme after its farm in Marondera was judged the best maize grower in ward 25 of Marondera Rural District Council.

Stakeholders who attended a command agriculture field day at the ZNA-owned Gabriel Farm in Marondera, commended the army for leading by example after having one of the best maize crops in the area.

“It is evidence enough that institutions are capable of excelling in the farming business. I would like to encourage other government institutions to improve their performance and ensure they are in business,” said Cde Muchemwa Mugwisi, the Director in the Office of the Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs.

“As a seed company, we are impressed by the level of production at this institution and we are going to partner them in improving productivity at this farm,” SEEDCO representative, John Bhasera said.

The Deputy Commander 2 Brigade, Colonel Zitterson Sabeka paid tribute to the local Agritex and command agriculture programme for having supported their activities.

“The support we received from our local Agritex and the command agriculture team was tremendous and we value it,” he said.

The farm had 34 hectares of maize under command agriculture.

Apart from the maize crop, the farm is also into horticulture, cattle production, goats and sheep.
